Preparing a Chelsea Property for a Three-Phase Electrical Setup
Electricians 4 London Ltd recently completed a three-phase electrical upgrade at a property in Chelsea, London, preparing the installation for a new three-phase supply arrangement and increased electrical demand.
The property already had a three-phase incoming supply, but the electrical installation had previously been configured to operate primarily on a single-phase system. Our works involved upgrading and reorganising the installation so it is safely prepared for the new three-phase setup.

Although the property already had a three-phase incoming supply, the existing electrical installation had previously been configured to operate primarily on a single-phase system.
To prepare the property for the new three-phase arrangement, the existing electrical installation needed to be reconfigured and the associated distribution and supply equipment upgraded.
The project also required careful organisation of the existing cabling, protective arrangements, isolator and metering equipment so the installation would be ready for the electricity supplier or meter operator to complete the final three-phase metering and supply arrangements.

Works Completed
As part of the project, our NICEIC-approved electricians carried out:
- Reconfiguration of the existing electrical installation in preparation for the three-phase supply
- Installation and termination of the required three-phase meter tails between the incoming supply equipment and isolator
- Upgrade of the existing single-phase distribution board, incorporating modern Type A RCBO protection and surge protection (SPD)
- Reconfiguration and improvement of the electrical arrangements around the existing main isolator and metering equipment
- Inspection of the existing earthing and protective arrangements
- Organisation and safe termination of the associated electrical circuits and cabling
- Full electrical inspection and testing following completion of the works
- Preparation of the installation for the electricity supplier/meter operator to complete the three-phase metering and final supply arrangements
Following completion, the upgraded electrical infrastructure was inspected and tested ready for the next stage of the three-phase supply setup.
